Photos from the 2007 Saco Pumpkin Fest and Nature Island event where FBES naturalists put on educational skits, played eco games and taught local kids how to make crafts on Jubilee Island in downtown Saco.
The small island off of Main Street, Saco connected by a covered bridge, was once again transformed into ’ÄúNature Island’Äù on October 28th as FBES staff naturalists (dressed in costume, of course!) entertained and educated more than 840 visitors during the 7th Annual Saco Pumpkin Fest. Adults and children roamed the island and learned ’Äì through games, crafts and skits ’Äì about ecology and sustainability. The fun continued after sunset when the naturalists created a campfire sing-a-long and story hour at the Dyer Library. FBES’Äôs own Maggie Daigle served on the Saco Pumpkin Fest committee and was responsible for publicity of the event which drew a record number of people to Saco’Äôs downtown.
